Salix Resource Management Ltd. (Salix) is a full-service environmental consulting company based in Alberta, Canada with offices in Calgary and Sundre. Salix has extensive upstream oil and gas experience working throughout Alberta, with an emphasis on native prairie assessment and reclamation. This emphasis provides our staff with the opportunity to work in and explore one of the largest tracts of native prairie left in North America.

Salix is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals for summer opportunities in 2025.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of reclamation projects with a heavy focus on field work;

  • Perform sampling and interpretation of environmental data;

  • Assist with environmental reports writing;

  • Conduct vegetation management and the revegetation of sites with native species;

  • Work on-site with equipment contractors and other field crews; and

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders and regulators.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree program in Environmental Science, Agrology, Conservation and Reclamation, Environment, or Range and Pasture Management;

  • Any experience in environmental consulting or a related field would be considered a plus;

  • Ability to identify major western Canadian crop, native grassland species and weeds;

  • Basic understanding of soil science;

  • Knowledge of western Canadian agriculture and oilfield practices;

  • Class 5 or equivalent Alberta Drivers License; and

  • A willingness to travel and work in remote locations in the field as needed.
