“Located in Southeastern Alberta on cultivated land, this project involved remediation and reclamation of a former oil and gas remote sump.
Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments had been completed previously and identified the and an area of potential concern which required remediation. Salix undertook remediation in 2019 and affected soils were removed from site. Reclamation proved to be challenging. Surface soils had not been properly segregated and a large amount of gravel had been brought onto the site. Multiple pieces of equipment were utilized due to the complexity of the project and in the end the site was turned back over to the landowner to be farmed in 2020.
